Youth and Family Events
Although many of our activities are family-friendly, we offer specific events and programs ideal for children. We want to amuse and entertain while sparking curiosity and wonder about birds and nature.
Here’s what’s next on the horizon:
YOUTH AND FAMILY EVENTS
YOUNG BIRDERS CLUB
Denver Audubon Young Birders Club hopes to educate and inspire young birders across Denver to build a community that is curious about birding and avian ecology. Get your 12-to-17-year-old out in nature, where they can make friends and learn about birds and nature.
HABITATS FOR HOMESCHOOLERS
This class series is designed for home school families to celebrate the outdoors together while learning about the exciting wildlife found around our Denver Audubon Nature Center. Our topics adjust with the season, and class days and times vary.
Come hoot with us at our largest family event. Each fall, we host this festival at our nature center, where you and your family enjoy live music, an owl costume contest, a scavenger hunt, face painting, owl pellet (owl puke) dissection, the chance to meet the US Forest Service’s Woodsy Owl, and the opportunity to see live owls. Keep your owl-ears listening for when we announce the next HOOTenanny.
MORE YOUTH AND FAMILY EVENTS
Denver Audubon offers three, week-long summer camps through Colorado Academy (find our programs under “Off-campus Camps”). All of our camps take place at our Denver Audubon Nature Center in Chatfield State Park.
YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAMS
For youth outreach programs, we come to you. We offer educational programs about bright birds of Colorado, bird hunters, family birding adventures, and a variety of other fun science topics.
Please allow five business days for us to respond to your request. We apologize in advance for being unable to accommodate all requests.
